BMO Attorneys Attend the Florida Association of County Attorneys (FACA) 2023 Annual Seminar

Attorneys of BMO Labor and Employment and Public Finance Practice Groups attend and present at the 2023 Florida Association of County Attorneys Annual CLE Seminar in Orlando.

BMO Labor and Employment attorneys David Miller and Ayla Arshad presented a new federal law that gives added rights to pregnant and nursing mothers. Mr. Miller spoke on the controversial amendments to Florida public sector labor laws that, among other things, prohibit government employers from deducting union dues from employee payroll and that raise the possibility of outright decertification of unions that cannot demonstrate 60 percent support from employees.

BMO Public Finance attorney Ken Artin, along with Monroe County Attorney Bob Shillinger discussed creative approaches for building workforce housing. Mr. Artin and Mr. Shillinger covered various topics such as what a workforce housing policy looks like, the Live Local Act and provisions of the Act which affect zoning and land use.
